Job Purpose
To update and maintain the distribution network equipment inventory and ensure that all equipment
are scheduled for inspection.
Key Responsibility Areas:
Prepare, maintain and inspect scheduling periods for the inspection of equipment in a
coordinated manner.
Investigate,maintain and update the distribution equipment inventory.
Schedule phased replacement of equipment.
Liaise with customers,architects,developers,local authorities in respect of maintenance work
Monitor the scheduling progress and promote safety.
Trainand develop colleagues and other persons.
Investigate new maintenance scheduling practices.
Compile and produce of reports,graphs and statistics.
Undertake related duties.
Essential Requirements:
N2 Certificate (Electrical).
Must have served a recognized apprenticeship or learnership as an Electrician.
3 Years relevant experience.
Computer Literacy.
Preferred Requirements:
Special Conditions:
40 hours 5 day week, flexi hours to be agreed with the Senior Manager.
As per the PEEE schedule.
Physical Requirements:
Must be physically capable of carrying out the requirements of the job.

Responsible for the sorting of accident reports and the correct allocation of codes.

Key Reponsibilities
Sort accident reports into date order and check legibility of forms.
Allocate correct codes for each accident form and undertake on a line coding of accident

Batch coded accident reports and then labelled and filed.

Undertake all coding corrections and road coding.

Read the description of each accident report and then interpret the accident and analyse the
collision type.

Check the exact location of accident and attach the correct location code to the accident

Check injuries of the parties involved in the accident.

Make telephonic enquiries.

Interpret the cause of accident.

Undertake other related projects and assignments as required.

Essential Requirements

An appropriate level of secondary education.
Valid motor vehicle driver’s licence (Code EB)
6 Months relevant experience.

Key Performance Areas:

1. A service bonus equivalent to one month’s salary, where applicable, will be payable and be supplemented by the normal benefits applicable to the Municipality incuding a housing allowance for home owners subject to certain conditions.

EThekwini Municipality is committed to promoting and supporting access to quality and relevant integrated training interventions, career development and skills opportunities through a series of programmes. Some of the programmes that we offer are:

Experiential Learning

This is part of the schools educational programme where learners experience the world of work. It is short term ie. A five day placement of secondary school learners with employers. Learners are placed with employers to observe and learn – not to undertake activities which require training and expertise. This programme targets Grades 10 -12 learners.
In – Service Training 

This programme targets students who are currently studying and who are required to undertake practical’s to complete their qualification. Students benefit through gaining ‘real life’ work exposure for a period of 6-12 months. 

Work Experience 

Work experience placements are specifically designed for recently graduated, unemployed people who are between the ages of 18 -35, residing within the eThekwini Municipal area.


This programme is designed to assist graduates and/or post graduates who are required register with a professional body in order to practice their profession. Candidates must be between the ages of 18-35 and reside within the eThekwini Municipal area. 


A great way to gain valuable on the job experience. Our learnerships consist of a structured theoretical learning component and practical work experience and is designed to enable learners to navigate across diverse employment contexts. Our learnerships culminates in a qualification that is registered with SAQA. 


Apprenticeships is a combination of theory learning and on the job training. This type of training can last from 2-4 years depending on the programme and provides you with an opportunity to earn while you learn. 

Student Bursaries (Loan Student Scheme) 

This scheme provides for the granting of bursaries in areas that include, but are not limited to Architects, Town Planners, Quantity Surveyors, Chemical, Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, Land Surveyors and Professional Valuers.
